Leeds United are looking to bring in a few players before the end of the January transfer window.
Daniel Farke badly needs to sign a new defender, possibly a full-back, and the Whites have been linked with a move for Everton defender Ben Godfrey in recent weeks.
According to journalist Alan Nixon (patreon), Leeds are looking to sign a new centre-back this month, and they are looking to sign Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall before February 1 deadline.
The 26-year-old defender is on £40k-per-week deal at City Ground, and the Whites mainly want him on loan for the rest of the season. Forest are demanding a fee of around £6m for Worrall, but the Whites are not willing to pay that fee to sign him permanently.
However, if Forest fail to offload him permanently this month, then a loan deal could be a possible option.
Late additions
Leeds have lost Luke Ayling and Djede Spence this month and they are aiming to sign a new full-back. They have been linked with players like Neco Williams and Ben Johnson this month, but they haven’t been able to broker deals for either of them.
Worrall is an interesting option. He has got loads of experience in the Championship but hasn’t done well for Forest in the Premier League. He is a leader at the back, and Daniel Farke looks interested in signing him.
Leeds have Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon as the two major centre-backs while Liam Cooper is still around. Cooper has been targeted by Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers this month, and Leeds could offload him if they can sign Worrall.
There are doubts over the future of Charlie Cresswell as well, so it’s going to be interesting next few days for the Elland Road outfit. Signing a centre-back makes sense, but Leeds should still look to sign a new full-back before the deadline.
