Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is 2023’s real MVP

Mohamed Salah has now scored 151 Premier League goals for Liverpool in 238 games after bagging a brace in the exhilarating 4-2 victory over Newcastle United last night, and the Egypt international has started 2024 with a bang after ending 2023 as one of the best players on the planet.

The 31-year-old was the only player in the top five for most assists and most goals scored across the top five leagues in Europe last year, and it is safe to say he is 2023’s real MVP.

Salah registered 19 assists and bagged 30 goals, and while Liverpool ended the year with no silverware, holding on to the attacker beyond the summer transfer window is worth its weight in gold and arguably the best decision they made in 2023.

The Reds are currently the league leaders after 20 games in 2023-24, and the Egyptian King has been integral to their impressive run in the competition.

No player has scored more goals (14) and registered more assists (8) than Salah in the Premier League so far this term.

He has also registered 65 shots and attempted most shots on target (33), and being without him due to his participation at the Africa Cup of Nations will be a huge blow for Liverpool.

Salah can help lead his side to the Premier League title if he resumes action after AFCON on his current form, and he could also be in the running for the 2024 Ballon d’Or if he also manages to win the
Europa League and the FA Cup or/and Carabao Cup with his team this term.

There are not enough adjectives to describe the Liverpool star, and with a fourth Premier League Golden Boot in view, the Anfield club are unlikely to be willing to let him leave anytime soon.

He is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon, and holding on to such a player for as long as possible is the smart thing to do.
