Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in talks over loan deal for Jadon Sancho

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently negotiating a loan move for the out-of-favour Jadon Sancho until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg.

Sancho is reportedly keen to join Dortmund on a short-term basis but his current employers would prefer a permanent exit as things stand.

Since falling out with head coach Erik ten Hag back in August, Sancho is yet to feature for United and is expected to leave the club in the January transfer window.

He has been linked with moves to Juventus and the Middle East but a return to Signal Iduna Park is now on the cards for the winger.

A second stint with Dortmund could be what Sancho needs to get his career back on track off the back of what has been a largely underwhelming time in the red half of Manchester.

Sancho enjoyed an impressive spell at Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 where he racked up 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 matches across all competitions.

This earned him a move to Old Trafford with so much expectation on his shoulder and it is safe to say that Sancho has fallen well short of those expectations.

Clearing up Sancho’s wage bill would be ideal for United from a business point of view with the Red Devils currently in a financial cul-de-sac in the wake of their early exit from the Champions League earlier this season.

Alongside Casemiro, Sancho is United’s highest earner at the moment and getting him off the books will be crucial to United’s chances of doing business in the January transfer window.

With Rasmus Hojlund still yet to find his feet in the Premier League, United are keen to add a new striker during the winter market and are reportedly eyeing loan moves for Timo Werner, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serhou Guirassy
