Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah on loan before the end of the January transfer window even though he has not played for seven months, according to the Sun.
The 24-year-old has not featured for the Blues this season and is still recovering from a long-term hamstring injury.
However, Nottingham are ready to discuss a loan move and will part with around £1 million to recruit his services.
Chalobah is nearing a full recovery following his long injury lay-off, and a deal could be struck before the winter transfer window shuts next Wednesday.
The Chelsea academy graduate is already surplus to requirements under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and the Stamford Bridge club are ready to get his wages off their books as they prepare for the future.
Forest will be willing to discuss terms of a permanent deal at the end of the campaign if they remain in the Premier League and if the English defender can regain full fitness, play games and prove himself.
Given that he is a Blues academy product, selling Chalobah represents pure profit in Financial Fair Play terms, and Chelsea could end up benefitting hugely from doing business with Forest.
Tottenham Hotspur were keen on signing the centre-back on loan in the summer, while suitors have emerged for his services in recent weeks.
Forest also eyed a summer deal but Chalobah was not keen on joining the City Ground club at the time.
It remains to be seen whether his mind has changed, but he needs to leave this month if he wants to play first-team football this term.
Chelsea are already preparing for life without their academy graduate and some of their other centre-backs and have been recently linked with Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aitor Paredes.
Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva is also on their radar, and Chalobah clearly has no future at the club.
