West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals could leave in the January transfer window.
According to journalist Ryan Taylor, Real Betis are still interested in signing the 27-year-old versatile midfielder.
Fornals has dropped down the pecking order at the London Stadium, and he is set to further lose his spot in the side following the arrival of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City on loan.
Earlier this month, Spanish publication AS reported that Betis could consider a move for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder if they manage to create space for new additions.
Now Taylor claims that the La Liga outfit remains in talks with West Ham over a deal for the Spanish midfielder. Fornals is on £79k-per-week deal at the London club and either loan or a permanent move is possible but his exit could hinge on sourcing a replacement.
Fornals has really struggled for regular games, having managed only four starts in the Premier League this season. Manuel Pellegrini knows him well and wants to sign him. In case of a permanent move, he could be available in the region of £4.2m.
Busy end to the window
The Hammers are expected to remain busy in the final few days of the transfer window.
They are looking to add an attacking winger as well, and have been linked with a move for Al-Ittihad winger Jota. The Hammers are also in the mix to sign Ibrahim Osman, but Jota looks a more realistic target at the moment.
If Fornals leave the club, it will free up the space and wage for Jota’s arrival. Said Benrahma is another player who has been linked with a move away from the club this month, but as of now no agreement has been reached for his exit.
West Ham are also in the race to sign Norwich City’s Jonatha Rowe this month.
