Sergio Reguilon expected to leave Tottenham on loan

Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is expected to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window.

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old Spaniard is being chased by a host of clubs including Brentford.

Romano claims that negotiations have already taken place, but the final decision rests with the player.

There are other clubs interested in signing Reguilon, who pockets around £53k-per-week wages. The defender will assess his situation but he is expected to leave the club again in the January transfer window.

The defender joined Manchester United on loan during the summer transfer window, and he has returned to the north London club this month.

No future?

Reguilon has a contract at Spurs until 2025, but it doesn’t look like he has got a long-term future at the club.

He also spent time on loan at Atletico Madrid which shows that probably Ange Postecoglou will be more than happy to get rid of him in the summer. Another loan move is ideal for him, and Brentford could be an ideal place for him.

At Old Trafford, he has managed 12 appearances but failed to make a strong impact. Postecoglou has already sold the likes of Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris this month, and he is ready to ship out more fringe players to make room for new additions.

Spurs have signed two quality players already. Timo Werner has joined on loan from RB Leipzig while Radu Dragusin has joined from Genoa on a permanent deal. Spurs are also keen to sign a midfielder and have been heavily linked with a move for Conor Gallagher.
