Tottenham in constant contact over signing Radu Dragusin

Tottenham are in constant contact to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano

Spurs are looking to sign a new centre-back in January and they have been heavily keen to sign Dragusin. The player’s agent, Florin Manea, has said that the defender does not want to leave Genoa during the January transfer window.

“He does not think about money, but about prospects for growth and the team he can play for,” he told Play TV.

“We were contacted by Saudi Pro League clubs, but he did not even want to listen to their proposals.

“Personally, I have not been contacted by Napoli, Roma or AC Milan.

“In any case, Radu is not thinking about leaving Genoa mid-season, it would be like leaving some unfinished business for him.

“I have had contact with clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham and others, but at this moment he does not want to leave.”

However, Romano still thinks that Dragusin moving from Genoa to Tottenham is now “more than a possibility”.

The two sides are yet to agree a deal but there is constant contact between the two clubs. Romano says that the conversation is very positive.

Dragusin has said ‘yes’ to Tottenham’s move while Ange Postecoglou is also a big fan of the player.

Romano says: “The conversations between Tottenham and Genoa are more positive, with the Italian club looking for something like €30m, while Spurs are offering more like €23m, so it’s a verbal conversation, nothing official at the moment, so let’s see how it progresses in the next few days.”

Tottenham will be boosted by the return of Micky van de Ven after a long-term injury while Cristian Romero is expected to return soon.

Still, Postecoglou needs to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window and Dragusin will be a solid addition to the side. Eric Dier has failed to cement his place in the side, and there is a chance that he could be sold in the summer.

It seems that the player is not keen on a move at the moment, but Romano insists that talks have been going on between the two clubs. Dragusin has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, and it shouldn’t be a big problem for Spurs to agree personal terms with him if they can broker a deal.
