Tottenham look to sign Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur are set to swoop for Djurgardens youngster, Lucas Bergvall, as they look to hijack Barcelona’s deal for the 17-year-old, as per Daily Mail.

Spurs have enjoyed a fantastic transfer window under Ange Postecoglou, with the club signing some top players. However, it seems the north London club are looking to add one or two players in the closing stages of the window.

The Sweden International is tipped to seal a £8.5m move to Barcelona. However, Tottenham have stepped up to scupper the move as they look to hijack the deal for the highly sought-after midfielder who has attracted attention from various clubs across Europe, including Manchester United, where he underwent trials at the age of 14.

Spurs have made enquiries regarding the acquisition of the young Djurgardens wonderkid. The midfielder made his first start for the club in May during a 1-0 victory against Hacken. He went on to score three goals in 28 appearances from midfield. Last month, it was confirmed that Barcelona had also expressed interest in signing him.

Bergvall has a contract until December 2025 and German publication, Fussball News previously reported that Djurgardens are anticipating a transfer fee within €8m and €10m for the one-cap Sweden International.

Young talent

Under Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur have revamped their transfer strategy, focusing not only on recruiting quality players for the first team but also on nurturing and acquiring promising prospects for the future.

Among the notable acquisitions include Alejo Véliz, an Argentina U20 International, who was acquired from Rosario Central in Argentina. Additionally, the club secured the services of 18-year-old defensive talent Ashley Philips from Blackburn Rovers last summer. Furthermore, Tottenham has a pre-existing agreement in place for Luka Vuskovic, a Croatia U17 International from Hajduk Split. The 16-year-old prodigy is slated to officially join Tottenham Hotspur Stadium upon turning 18.

They have now set their sights on 17-year-old Sweden International, Bergvall as they look to hijack Barcelona’s move for the youngster.

Renowned for his versatility as a box-to-box midfielder, Bergvall possesses exceptional technical skills and possesses the ability to orchestrate dangerous attacking plays with his precise passing. Moreover, he demonstrates a keen tactical understanding of the game, often making crucial interceptions to thwart opposing attacks while bolstering his team’s defensive efforts.

It remains to be seen how proactive Tottenham will act in acquiring the signature of the youngster amid interest from a host of European clubs.
