Tottenham talks progressing well to sign Radu Dragusin

Tottenham Hotspur are on course to sign Genoa for centre-back, Radu Dragusin as they aim to reach an agreement after making progress in initial talks, according to Rudy Galetti.

Spurs are accelerating efforts to sign the Romania International after injury to club vice-captain, Christian Romero ruled him out for up to five weeks, leaving Ange Postecoglou short of options.

Although talks are reported to be at a good pace, there’s still a gap in valuation as Spurs are offering less than what Genoa are demanding. But Spurs aim to reach an agreement “ASAP”.

Galetti previously reported that Tottenham’s first proposal for Dragusin was £21.6m, which is below Genoa’s £26m asking price. However, there’s optimism in Spurs side that a consensus would be reached to finalize the transfer of the 21-year-old.

Dragusin, whose contract at the Stadio Comunale Luigi runs until 2027, was on target for Genoa as they rallied back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw with League leaders, Inter Milan.

Smart addition?

Dragusin would savor his chances of playing in the Premier League, with Tottenham emerging as a potential suitor. Ange Postecoglou is keen on fortifying his defense, and reports suggest that Spurs are actively pursuing Dragusin.

He possesses immense potential and could play a pivotal role in Tottenham’s rejuvenation under Postecoglou. Genoa, having paid €5.5 million, is hopeful of making a significant profit and reports indicate that they won’t accept any fee less than £26m, a figure within Spurs’ reach.

Standing at an imposing 1.91m, Dragusin is a powerful and combative center-back, offering a commanding defensive presence and excelling in aerial duels. His physical attributes align well with the rigorous demands of the Premier League, making him a formidable opponent for attackers in the league.

Considering Tottenham’s current defensive situation, with Romero facing an extended period on the sidelines and potential changes in the squad, Dragusin emerges as a valuable option. With Micky Van De Ven expected to return soon and Eric Dier possibly departing due to limited game time, Dragusin could become a significant replacement for Dier and form a formidable partnership with Van De Ven upon his return.
