West Ham battle Aston Villa in race to sign Jonathan Rowe

West Ham are still in the race to sign Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe in the January transfer window.

According to a report from Sunday People (28 January, page 63), the Hammers are Crystal Palace are in the race to sign the 20-year-old attacker who has been in breathtaking form this season.

The report shares that the likes of Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also in the mix to sign the winger who could cost in the region of around £20m.

Norwich City are expecting bids from Premier League clubs in the final few days of the window for Rowe.

West Ham are looking to make a few signings towards the end of the January transfer window, having already signed Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City. However, with so many clubs vying for his signature, it won’t be easy to get him on the cheap.

Difficult

Rowe is one of the rising talents in English football and needless to say, several top Premier League clubs have scouted him thoroughly including Tottenham.

West Ham are looking to add depth in their forward areas, and Rowe could be a smart addition. The young winger has been in sensational form this season where he managed 13 goals and provided three assists over 31 games in all competitions this season.

However, a potential move for Rowe is possible only if the Hammers manage to get rid of Said Benrahma. The Algerian winger has been heavily linked with a move to Marseille but a deal didn’t materialise.

Jarrod Bowen has been in tremendous form this season while Mohammed Kudus has proved to be one of the signings of the season for the Hammers. But with Michail Antonio out injured, David Moyes could look to bring in someone who can ease the scoring burden.

Rowe has all the years ahead of him to become a top-quality player, but the potential is there, and the Hammers may well put up a late bid to get him on board.
