West Ham United have expressed concrete interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder, Florian Neuhaus, according to a report from Bild.
Despite making 15 Bundesliga appearances and 18 in all competitions, Neuhaus is reportedly seeking a move away from the club as he believes he’s underappreciated by head coach, Gerardo Seoane.
Despite his seeming lack of game time, there are a plethora of European top clubs showing willingness to sign the Germany International with Bild reporting that the likes of Lazio and Sevilla are vying for Neuhaus.
The report also adds that Premiere League sides, West Ham and Aston Villa are showing the most concrete interest in acquiring the central midfielder to help bolster their squad in their fight for Champions League places.
Having signed a contract last July that will keep him at the Borussia-Park until June 2027, Die Fohlen are not desperate to sell the 26-year-old as he still has a four-year contract with the club without an exit clause.
However, the German side would be open for a loan move as Neuhaus would get the much-needed playing time and experience.
Bild reports that the ‘very rich’ Premier League sides would need to pay his complete salary which is €4m as well as pay a loan fee to get his services.
New additions
West Ham are already making significant moves to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
Recent reports have confirmed their acquisition of Manchester City’s midfielder, Kalvin Philips on loan and Bild has also revealed reports of West Ham’s interest in Neuhaus. The Hammers are also looking to signNordsjaelland winger Ibrahim Osman.
The Hammers are still in the top six and are not too far off the top five with only five points separating them and fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur on 40 points.
The Hammers will also hope to replicate their UEFA Conference League success in the Europa League this season as they aim to clinch a second successive title.
With reported interest from the high-flying Aston Villa side, as well as interest from Italy and Spain in Neuhaus, it remains to be seen how swiftly the East London club will react in acquiring the German International from their rivals.
