West Ham are showing interest in signing Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup in the January transfer window, according to a report from TuttoJuve.
Serie A giants Juventus are also keen to sign the 22-year-old, while the Hammers could face competition from the likes of Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
The report claims that the Hammers could offer a fee of around £8.5m to secure his signature.
The Denmark international has been a regular starter for Genoa, having made 18 starts in the Serie A so far. The defensive midfielder has registered four assists so far.
His performances have caught the attention of several big clubs including West Ham and Crystal Palace among others. He makes around 4 tackles on average and manages 1.2 interceptions, as per whoscored.
Busy transfer window
It is going to be a busy transfer window for the Hammers who are doing incredibly well under David Moyes. The Hammers should look to bring in a quality defensive midfielder and Frendup could be a terrific addition.
The Hammers have progressed to the knock-out rounds of the Europa League and Moyes should look to add more quality players to the side.
West Ham need to clear out some of their fringe players in order to make space for new additions. German defender Thilo Kehrer has been linked with a move to AS Monaco and as per reports, he is close to joining them on loan in the next 48 hours.
Monaco will have an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season. It has also been reported that clubs in Saudi Arabia are keen to sign Nayef Aguerd but West Ham won’t entertain any loan move for him.
Another player who could leave this month is Said Benrahma. The Hammers winger has been targeted by French club Lyon this month, and a potential move could be on the cards.
