West Ham have been very quiet in the January transfer window so far but they could be very busy in the final few days of this month.
The Hammers, once again, are looking to sign a striker, and their search could lead to the door of their London neighbors, as they set sight on Chelsea’s Armando Broja.
According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea are willing to sell the 22-year-old striker on a permanent deal in the January window.
Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Broja is a player with “amazing” potential but at the same time, he feels that the striker needs to improve on his fitness and body language.
The Hammers could face competition from the likes of Fulham and Wolves. Broja has shone only in flashes and spent a long period on the sidelines.
Need for striker
West Ham desperately need to sign a new striker at some point, preferably this month. Gianluca Scamacca proved to be a costly flop and David Moyes spent no time to offloading him last summer.
Michail Antonio has been the lone striker at the club and he is currently out injured. Jarrod Bowen has impressed in the false nine role, but a quality striker is the need of the hour.
Broja is a fantastic striker whose best years are ahead of him. He made his return after nine months out during September’s 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa and has registered two goals and one assist for Chelsea this term.
He impressed heavily during his loan spell at Southampton where he scored nine goals in 38 games on loan. West Ham should make a move for him during this month now that Chelsea are willing to sell him.
Broja is on £78k-per-week deal at Stamford Bridge, and the Hammers can tempt him with a better wage package, and the offer of regular football.
