West Ham are likely to miss out on Nordsjælland winger Ibrahim Osman, according to journalist Jacob Steinberg.
The Hammers have been heavily interested in signing the highly-rated 19-year-old attacker and contacts were made earlier this month.
The Guardian journalist claimed on X that the player has become too expensive as “as it stands” the deal is not going to happen.
“West Ham’s move for Ibrahim Osman isn’t happening as it stands – deal for Nordsjaelland winger has become too expensive,” wrote Steinberg.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed earlier this week that “talks are moving pretty fast” to sign Osman, but it seems the Hammers have backed off the race.
West Ham have had a bid rejected already, in the region of €16m plus add-ons. Initially, it was anticipated that a fee in the region of €18-19m mark with add-ons would be enough to secure his signature, but that’s not going to happen.
Need few signings
The Hammers have already signed Kalvin Phillips who joined on loan from Manchester City. The 28-year-old midfielder has struggled for regular game time at City, and he will look to make a strong impact at the London Stadium.
However, the Hammers need more players, especially in their attacking areas. They have reportedly made an offer to sign Middlesbrough winger Morgan Rogers but it seems he could be on his way to joining Aston Villa instead.
West Ham should look for other options in the next few days if they are really serious about landing a new player. Norwich City’s highly-rated Jonathan Rowe could be an option but the Hammers are likely to face severe competition for his services.
David Moyes is looking to sign a striker as well, and West Ham have been linked with a move for Armando Broja but it doesn’t look like they will be willing to meet his asking price.
