West Ham are keen to sign Genoa attacking midfielder Albert Gudmundsson in the January transfer window, but it won’t be easy to lure him away.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, the Hammers have already made an offer to sign the 26-year-old forward, although the details of the offer haven’t been reported. The Sky Italia journalist claims that the Serie A club have rejected the offer.
Genoa have agreed a deal to sell Radu Dragusin to Tottenham Hotspur, and while they will get Djede Spence on loan, they are unlikely to lose another important player in the same transfer window.
However, West Ham badly need to bolster their forward department following injuries to both Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, and they want a quality attacking player.
Gudmundsson has been in “excellent” form this season, managing eight goals and two assists in the Serie A already in 17 appearances.
He is not only the club’s top scorer but one of the standout performers in the league this season, and that’s why Genoa are not keen to offload him.
Signings needed
Both Bowen and Lucas Paqueta picked up injuries during the 1-1 draw in the FA Cup clash against Bristol City. Bowen is expected to be sidelined for between two and three weeks after picking up an ankle issue.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims that Crystal Palace and Wolves have shown interest in West Ham striker Danny Ings, but it doesn’t look like David Moyes will be eager to sell him even if he is not playing regularly.
West Ham have done incredibly well under Moyes and he needs backing in the winter transfer market. Ideally, a new midfielder, a new striker, a new centre-back, and a new full-back should be the priority.
The Hammers are in the market for a left winger as well and they have been linked with players like Sunderland’s Jack Clarke and Ajax’s Steven Bergwijn.
