West Ham winger Said Benrahma is one of the players who could leave the club in the January transfer window.
According to Footmercato, French club Olympique Marseille have made the first move to sign Benrahma.
They have submitted an offer to sign him on loan with the option to make it permanent at the end of the season. However, the Hammers have rejected the move.
The Hammers are looking to cash in on several players like Benrahma and Ben Johnson as David Moyes wants to bolster his attacking department.
Marseille are looking to come back with another strong offer before the end of this month. West Ham are not against selling him, but they are demanding a fee close to £20m for Benrahma.
Exit on the cards?
Benrahma’s future has come under strong speculation in recent weeks after he was left out by Algeria for the AFCON. Benrahma, who is on £55k-per-week wages, has a contract at the club until 2026, and the Hammers are under no pressure to sell him.
The versatile attacking midfielder can play in all three positions upfront but he has never been able to cement his place as a guaranteed starter. This season he has managed only five starts in the league, and a further eight appearances have come from the bench.
It is clear that Benrahma is no longer an indispensable player for the Hammers, but at the same time, David Moyes is in no rush to sell him. It looks like West Ham will only accept a permanent exit for Benrahma as they need to use the money to buy a new player.
The Hammers need to bolster their midfield and attacking areas in January. They have been linked with players with Jack Clarke, Steven Bergwijn, and Kalvin Phillips, but they are not close to signing any of them as it stands.
