Liverpool cemented their position at the top of the Premier League table with a thumping 4-1 win over Brentford away from home on Saturday (17 February).
Goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo sealed all three points for the visitors.
Salah came from the bench after Diogo Jota got injured in the first half. The Egyptian maestro picked up an injury whilst on international duty and missed the previous few games.
The 31-year-old provided an assist for MacAllister’s goal and then added his name to the scoresheet to put the game beyond doubt. Liverpool missed some close-range efforts, and the scoreline could have been different.
It was their first win at Brentford in the Premier League era, and Alan Shearer was full of praise for Salah after he scored today. He took to X to share his reaction. The popular pundit wrote: “What an incredible player Mohamed Salah is.”

Terrific performance from Liverpool forwards
Salah has been outstanding for Liverpool once again. The Reds hero has taken his goal tally to 14 in the Premier League, and has also managed eight assists.
It didn’t take time for him to pick up the form from where he left off, and as a result, Liverpool have now taken a five-point lead over other title challengers, although Arsenal and Manchester City will play later today.
The only concern for Klopp will be the injuries to key players – Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota.
Both Jones and Jota were taken off in the first half, with Jota likely to undergo test in the next few days. He has been Liverpool’s best player in recent months and it will be a huge blow if the club lose him for a long period.
