Aston Villa are expected to complete at least two signings on the deadline day, according to Sky Sports.
On their transfer live blog page (1 Feb, 08.25 am), Sky Sports claims that Villa are looking to complete the signing of Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough.
The second player who will walk into Villa Park today is Joe Gauci who is expected to join from Adelaide United. He has completed his medical in Qatar.
There has been interest from several clubs in striker Jhon Duran but the young forward is expected to stay at the club this month.
Meanwhile, as per Fabrizio Romano, Lino Sousa has signed the contract after joining Aston Villa on a permanent deal from Arsenal. He signed a deal until 2028 but will move to Plymouth on loan for the rest of the season.
More signings?
Could Villa be involved in more signings today? It is highly unlikely. They set their sight on signing Rogers this month, and have had three bids rejected for the player.
However, Villa didn’t give up, and in the end, they managed to secure a deal, with the player showing a keen interest in moving to Villa Park as well.
Unai Emery will be happy to keep Duran at the club as well. The 20-year-old striker has mainly played as second fiddle to Ollie Watkins, and several clubs including Chelsea wanted him on loan for the rest of the season.
However, it seems he is set to stay at the club for the rest of the season.
Villa suffered a blow in their last game as they lost 3-1 against Newcastle at Villa Park. Under Emery, Villa Park has become a fortress, but on this occasion, Eddie Howe’s side came out victorious.
As a result, Villa have dropped out of the top four. The race for the Champions League spot in very intense this season, and Villa need to keep winning games to stay in touch with the other rivals.
