Brendan Rodgers drools over Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart

Celtic will be aiming for more consistency in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers closing them down.

The Hoops boss, Brendan Rodgers, will be hoping that his key players will put up a strong performance for the rest of the season as the title race promises to go down to the wire.

One of the players who has been the epitome of consistency for the Bhoys in recent years is Joe Hart, and he has been “phenomenal” between the sticks over the past few months.

Rodgers has hailed the former Manchester City goalkeeper who has made some “wonderful” saves this season. The Celtic boss says that the 36-year-old goalkeeper is the “real catalyst” for the title charge.

Hart has been criticized by pundits from time to time, but he has also come up with some massive top-drawer saves for Celtic.

“Joe doesn’t have a lot to do but the times he does he makes wonderful saves,” said Rodgers, as quoted by Football Scotland.

“He’s a real catalyst for the team with the way him and Cal lead the dressing room. The saves he makes are so impressive. There were lots of crosses, lots of balls into the box.

“But he was very clean. You always want keepers to catch but if they can’t then there’s a lot of distance on it. He did that very well more than a few times. It was another clean sheet for him and that was important. Joe’s a very experienced player.”

Key player

Hart has been really impressive in recent months. He was brilliant during the recent 2-0 win over St Mirren, but as with the cases with so many goalkeepers across the world, they get criticized whenever they make an error.

The veteran goalkeeper is fast approaching the fag end of his career, and Celtic need to decide whether to continue with him beyond the end of the season.

Having said that, it’s essential to have a leader on the side. Hart is not only a great performer but he brings his wealth of experience to the side.

He has made six clean sheets in his last nine games, which shows that he is performing at a very high level. He is out of contract in the summer and the Scottish champions are unlikely to offer him a new deal.
