Celtic new boy Adam Idah is likely to start in the next game after impressing Brendan Rodgers heavily in training.
The 22-year-old joined in the January transfer window from Norwich City, and made his debut from the bench against Aberdeen in the last game.
The Bhoys drew 1-1 against the Dons where Idah showed glimpses of his quality. The Republic of Ireland frontman has impressed Rodgers in training, and the Hoops manager has hinted that Idah is good enough to start.
Celtic have seen their eight-point lead cut down by Rangers last week, and we can expect a fascinating title race this season. The Hoops will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Hibs in their next match.
“Oh yes, there’s no doubt. He’s had 20-odd games behind him this season before coming to us. So he’s game ready and fit and ready to play,” said Rodgers, as quoted by Football Scotland.
“If I can unlock the talent that he has then this is a boy can be a top-level striker. He’s not just a boy where, even if you max out everything, he can only get to a certain level. This is everything – this is 6ft 2in, power, speed.
“So once he finds the relationships with the other players and the runs – and we’ll play to his strengths because he wants to run in behind – then he’s going to be a real handful.
“Then working with him on the training pitch and seeing his finishing yesterday – left foot, right foot, spin, strike – he was absolutely brilliant.”
Fascinating title race
Only a few months ago, it looked like Celtic would be running away with the Scottish Premiership title, but Rangers have fought back under Philippe Clement.
The momentum has completely shifted at the moment towards the Ibrox outfit, despite their recent Old Firm derby defeat.
Rodgers has hailed Idah as “absolutely brilliant” and he will be hoping that the new January signing will make a huge impact in the second half of the season.
The Celtic boss, however, has suggested that there is no need to panic. The Bhoys have lacked cutting edge in their attack recently, and Idah can provide an injection of quality they badly need.
Recent reports have suggested that it would take roughly £3m to get Idah and around £6m to sign Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis.
