Celtic are looking to sign a new left-back before the transfer deadline tonight, according to a report from Sky Sports.
The Bhoys have had a relatively quiet transfer window, but it seems Brendan Rodgers is not looking to make a drastic change to the squad as yet.
Celtic have done extremely well to keep hold of some of their top players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Matt O’Riley. They have added Nicolas Kuhn to the side this month, and Rodgers is looking to add atleast one defender before the end of the window.
The Hoops showed interest in signing Wolves defender Hugo Bueno but their approach has been rebuffed.
The Daily Mail reported yesterday that the Scottish Premiership champions are looking to make a move for Layvin Kurzawa on deadline day, but it could be a “difficult deal” to pull through.
While the highly experienced defender has badly struggled for regular games this season, PSG are looking for a significant fee even if he signs on loan. Moreover, they will demand Celtic to pay his wages, which would be really problematic.
Very difficult
Celtic are looking to finalise a deal for Adam Idah who should be able to complete the move today.
However, a new left-back would have been fantastic for them as it would have helped them to strengthen the squad. Scotland left-back Greg Taylor is injured at the moment which means Alexandro Bernabei remains the only senior option for the Hoops.
Kurzawa, who has made over 150 appearances for the Bhoys, is a vastly experienced defender. He has managed just one game for the club this season, and the player’s agents have alerted Celtic of his availability.
One player who could leave the club today is David Turnbull who could depart permanently to Cardiff City. As it stands, a deal for Kurzawa looks really difficult.
