Chris Sutton predicts score of Everton clash v West Ham

Everton will take on West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday (2 March) at Goodison Park looking to pick up their first win in 2024.

This is a massive game for the Toffees who will be delighted to get four points back after they appealed against the ten-point deduction in November.

They have jumped to 15th in the table as a result, but they are yet to mark themselves as safe with another round of hearing set to follow shortly. However, Sean Dyche and his players have got clarity now, and they have got a breathing space.

West Ham, on the other hand, are heading into this game on the back of a 4-2 win against Brentford in the previous game. The Hammers finally returned to winning ways after eight games in all competitions.

Lucas Paqueta is also back for the Hammers, and all of a sudden, they’ve looked a different side.

Chris Sutton says he fancies the Toffees to win at home, and thinks they will be “perfectly fine” at the end of the season. He has predicted a 1-0 win for the Toffees.

What Sutton said about Everton v West Ham

“Everton must be absolutely delighted to get back four of the 10 points that they had deducted, and that sets them up nicely for this game,” said Sutton to BBC Sport

“If they can follow that by ending their long wait for a league win, which stretches back nine games to 16 December, it would be huge for them.

“Without the points deduction, we wouldn’t have been talking about them being in danger of the drop. Now it has been reduced, they are perfectly fine.

“West Ham have had some good news too, with Lucas Paqueta back from injury after six games out, and he made an immediate impact against Brentford. Jarrod Bowen was on fire in that game too, with a hat-trick, but I am not expecting more of the same from him or his team.

“I keep backing Everton at home, and getting it wrong, but I fancy them here. Their former boss David Moyes has won at Goodison with West Ham once before, in 2021, but I have feeling he will leave empty-handed this time.”

Massive game for both sides

Everton should have won against Brighton in their previous game. Jarrad Branthwaite scored a spectacular goal but Lewis Dunk equalised in the end. Everton must look for a win now and Dyche could make a few changes to the side for this game.

The Hammers have gone through a rough patch and a section of the fans demanded Moyes to be sacked. Moyes has done an incredible job at the club, but it is unclear whether he would sign a new deal.

The atmosphere has become toxic in recent weeks, but it could all change if the Hammers manage to win games regularly once again.
