Chris Sutton predicts score of Everton v Crystal Palace

Everton will face Crystal Palace in a crucial Premier League game on Monday night at Goodison Park.

The Toffees will probably get to know the outcome of their appeal over point deduction by next week, but their focus right now is the game on Monday.

This is a fixture between two teams who are struggling badly in the Premier League at the moment.

The Eagles have picked up just two wins in their last 13 league games, and as per reports, they are about to sack their manager, Roy Hodgson.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the London outfit have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new head coach, although the news hasn’t been made official yet.

On the other hand, Everton are yet to pick up a win in the league since Christmas. They have stayed competitive, but haven’t been able to pick up the much-needed three points.

A victory will see them close the gap with Palace to just two points and Chris Sutton bets they can get a win on Monday night. He says the Toffees will pick up a 2-0 win while speaking to BBC Sports.

Chris Sutton makes strong prediction

“There has been something of a malaise around Crystal Palace recently, but they were actually very spirited in their defeat against Chelsea on Monday,” said Sutton.

“The Eagles have missed their big guns, though. Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze have not played enough for them this season.

“I looked into it for the Monday Night Club and Olise has made only eight Premier League starts in 2023-24. Eze has 13, but together they have only made four. They are the go-to guys for them in an attacking sense and they haven’t been available.

“Everton will see this as an incredible opportunity to end their long wait for three points and I bet Sean Dyche has them fired up.

“They need a win anyway, but it will be especially important if the teams around them pick up points earlier in the weekend.”

Everton have played well under Sean Dyche and they would have been 12-13th in the table if the points were not deducted, which shows, they have punched above their weight.

In the last seven Premier League games, they faced Manchester City and Tottenham twice, games nobody predicted them to win. They have picked up a point at Craven Cottage and earned a draw against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

The performances in most games have been fantastic and all they need now is to pick up some wins to boost their confidence.

Palace have picked up three wins away from home this season, but with the club in a deep mess right now, it will require a herculean effort from them to come up with a positive result at Goodison Park.
