Leeds United are currently flying at the moment and they are yet to lose a game in the Championship this year.
The consistency shown by the players has been amazing and as a result, they have jumped to second in the table, two points above Southampton, although they have played a game more.
There’s still a lot of football left to be played but Daniel Farke will be overall pleased with the effort put up by his players, especially young guns.
The most pleasing thing about the Whites at the moment is that they are scoring goals for fun, having managed seven in their last two games including a 4-0 demolition of Swansea City in the previous game.
This is a young squad and one of the players who has made a massive impact this season is Crysencio Summerville. Along with some other talented players like Archie Gray, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and Georginio Rutter, he has made a huge contribution so far.
Farke was full of praise for Summerville during a recent interview with Sky Sports where he said that the sky is the limit for the 22-year-old attacker. He adds that Summerville has been “outstanding” throughout the season and all he needs now is to maintain consistency.
The decision to stay paid off
“He is playing an outstanding season in terms of performances, end product and also his willingness to work for the team, to be there and deliver on a daily basis even in training, otherwise you can’t deliver consistency in this league,” said Farke.
“You have to be on it each and every day on the training pitch but also with good habits in nutrition, sleep and recovery. We don’t have to speak about the potential of Cree, the sky is the limit with his potential but to show consistency this is crucial. It’s no coincidence he has delivered many end products.”
Summerville was heavily linked with a move last summer following Leeds’ relegation but he decided to stay put. The decision is vindicated as he has found confidence back in his game.
Everyone expected that he would do well, but very few could have imagined that Summerville would score 15 goals and provide eight assists, with another chunk of the season left to play.
He has worked extremely hard under Farke and has been the difference-maker for Leeds this season. If Leeds manage to secure an automatic promotion, the form of Summerville will be crucial. In fact, he has done more than enough already.
