Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was full of praise for Connor Roberts who scored the equaliser for the Whites against Leicester City on Friday night (23 February).
The 28-year-old right-back joined in the January transfer window from Burnley and has made four substitute appearances so far for the Whites.
Against Leicester, he came off the bench and scored in the 80th minute, sparking a dramatic revival from the home side. With Elland Road fans baying for blood, Leeds scored two more goals before the final whistle to seal the tie 3-1.
Farke was full of praise for the Wales defender saying he felt that Roberts could turn the game, and luckily it happened for him. Patrick Bamford also got his name on the scoresheet as Leeds closed the gap at the top to six points.
“Connor is just a few weeks with us. He has strength going forward. Mavididi was on fire and we let Connor defend him,” said Farke, as quoted by Leeds Live.
“I got the feeling Connor is involved in goals and end product or assists. Felt he could help to turn the game. Archie with his right foot on the left could link with Cree. The players delivered on the pitch. Many compliments to Archie, Connor and my whole team.”
Massive win for Leeds United
Roberts took to Instagram to share his feelings. It clearly shows that the goal means a lot to him and that he has enjoyed it very much as he played a big role in the game.
It’s an incredible feeling to come from behind and win the tie against the league leaders. Leeds have now picked up nine wins in a row, and they should be aiming to challenge the Foxes for the Championship title.
Farke will be really pleased by the character his players have displayed on the pitch. The Whites lost both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling in January and they needed to sign a new right-back. It will be interesting to see if Farke brings him into the starting line-up in the coming matches.
In other news, Daniel Farke left blown away by one Leeds player after what he did against Leicester City on Friday night.
