Eddie Howe drools over Newcastle defender Tino Livramento

Four issues Eddie Howe must fix at Newcastle

Newcastle United managed a 4-4 draw against Luton Town on Sunday (4 February) in the Premier League.

Dan Burn came under a lot of criticism but Eddie Howe defended him by saying he has been a key player for him. The Magpies boss also praised Tino Livramento saying the 21-year-old is an “outstanding” player.

Livramento joined in the summer transfer window from Southampton and has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season.

Howe says that Livramento “will have a huge bearing” on the club’s future. The Magpies boss has kept great faith in Burn who has kept his place in the starting line-up.

“He [Burn] was a big part of why we played so well. Tino is an outstanding player, and no doubt will have a huge bearing on our future. But as I said earlier, there’s more than one aspect of the game to think about when I pick the team,” said Howe, as quoted by Shieldsgazzette.

Should Livramento start in the next game?

Burn will try to forget the last game as early as possible. He made two glaring mistakes during the game. First, he conceded a penalty and then he gave the ball away which resulted in Luton’s fourth goal of the match.

Initially signed as a centre-back, Burn quickly established himself as a potent left-back and helped the Magpies finish fourth in the Premier League last season.

Newcastle have options in the left-back areas. Along with Livramento, there is Lewis Hall who can be a reliable option. However, Burn has been a key part of Howe’s plans.

The Magpies have picked up just one win from their last six games in the Premier League. They are ninth in the table at the moment and are not close to competing for the Champions League spot.

Howe’s side will face Nottingham Forest away at City Ground in their next Premier League game.
