Gary Lineker delivers verdict on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah returned to action after an injury lay-off and he didn’t take much time to make an impact against Brentford

The Reds cemented their position at the top of the Premier League table after they defeated Brentford 4-1 at the Gtech community stadium, something they haven’t done in the Premier League era.

Darwin Nunez opened the scoring for the Reds in the first half. Three second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Salah, and Cody Gakpo sealed all three points for the Reds.

Salah has been in terrific form for the Reds this season and scored his 15th Premier League goal thus far. The 31-year-old also provided nine assists.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Micah Richards was amazed to find how quickly Salah got back into scoring boots again straight after the injury as if nothing had happened before.

Gary Lineker, the host of the show, responded by saying that it’s a “sign of a great player”. On BBC Match of the Day, Shay Given described Salah as “dynamic” and expressed his admiration after what he did last week.

“Yeah, it’s the sign of great players really. You could say the say the same about Kevin de Bruyne. They don’t seem to need that much time to get back in the swing of things,” said Lineker.

Gary Lineker shares concern about Liverpool

This is turning out to be a fascinating title race. Liverpool are leading the race but Arsenal and Manchester City are ready to challenge them till the end.

Lineker suggested on his show that his only concern about Liverpool is the amount of injuries they are dealing with at the moment. The Reds are already without Joel Matip for the rest of the season and are currently without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson is also injured. Against Brentford, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones picked up nasty injuries and the duo could be out for a long spell. Darwin Nunez also appeared to have picked up a knock and he was taken off as a precautionary measure.

However, they have been dealing with multiple injuries since the start of the season, but have still managed to remain consistent. They have enough depth in their squad to cope with injuries and have the belief in their ability.
