Liverpool cemented their position at the top of the Premier League table after beating Brentford 4-1 on Saturday (17 February) at the Gtech Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp feels that the Reds have played an exceptional game, with goals coming from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo.
The obvious disappointment from this game is the loss of three players through injuries. Digo Jota and Curtis Jones were taken off before the break, while Nunez didn’t appear in the second half either.
Salah missed the previous few games with an injury that he picked up playing at the AFCON, but he looked back to his best as he provided a brilliant assist for Mac Allister and himself finding the net soon after.
Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for Salah while speaking to Premier League TV production (post-match show, 17 February), and he was particularly impressed by the Egyptian’s pass for Mac Allister.
“This is top quality. Mac Allister hasn’t got a clue that he would actually be scoring the goal. Salah’s pass is so good,” said Hoddle.
Salah has been outstanding for Liverpool once again
The 31-year-old was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia last season, and there is a high chance that he could be sold next summer if Liverpool receive a huge offer for him.
Klopp didn’t want to sell his best player, and we can see why. The Egyptian maestro is Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, and he is showing no signs of aging down.
Salah has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League this season, which shows what an important player he is for Klopp. The Reds boss has run out of superlatives to describe him, and he is indeed a very special player.
In his absence, Jota looked sensational for the Reds and was adjudged Premier League Player of the Month in January. However, it looks like he could be out for a while, but Klopp will hope that other players will step up in his absence.
