Leeds United will travel to John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield in the Championship on Saturday (2 March).
The Whites are heading into this tie on the back of a 3-2 loss against Chelsea in the FA Cup, but they are in terrific form at the moment in the league.
Leeds have won all their league games in 2024, and they have closed the gap with Leicester City at the top to six points.
Ahead of the match, Daniel Farke has said in the pre-match press conference that Jamie Shackleton is “definitely out” for this game.
The 24-year-old versatile player is unwell at the moment, and the club have decided to give him proper rest. Joe Gelhardt is doubtful due to back spasms, but there’s a little chance he could still be involved against Huddersfield.
“No. Jamie is unwell. Headache. He is definitely out for the game on Saturday,” said Farke.
Leeds United injury update v Huddersfield
The race for automatic promotion is getting interesting at the moment with Ipswich Town and Southampton chasing Leeds down and breathing down their neck.
Leeds, however, will feel that they can further close the gap at the top with Leicester. Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has predicted that the Whites will go unbeaten for the rest of the season, and while they have some tough fixtures ahead, Farke’s men will be confident of winning the game on Saturday.
Georginio Rutter, who missed the previous game with an injury, trained on Thursday, and he is available for selection. Likewise, Crysencio Summerville and Patrick Bamford have trained as well, and both could be available, which comes as a massive boost for Farke.
Summerville has been in great form this season, but he has missed several training sessions in recent weeks. Farke also confirmed that Ilia Gruev is touch and go at the moment, but there is a chance he could play on Saturday.
