Jurgen Klopp shares what Ivan Toney told him after Liverpool win v Brentford

Liverpool won 4-1 against Brentford to keep their position at the top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp felt that it was an “exceptional” game as goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo earned the Reds all three points at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Ivan Toney pulled one goal for the home side in the second half but the game was done and dusted by that time.

After the end of the game, Klopp was seen speaking with Toney, and the Liverpool boss shared what they mainly spoke about. Toney, who is being linked with a move away from Brentford, has wished Klopp good luck for his time after he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season.

“It was more like smiling at him. He’s obviously quite a handful and really tricky,” said Klopp, as quoted by Liverpoolfc.com.

“I used a different word! But it’s really tricky to play against him. Am I right [in saying] he’s a Liverpool supporter? He’s not shy in saying that? Then I can admit it as well. We spoke a little bit about that and he wished me good luck with my time after.

“A lot of people said it, a lot of players said it, it’s not necessary but it’s nice. But I will find a place to watch… that was it, it was a nice conversation.”

Terrific performance from Liverpool

It has been a professional display from the Reds who were very good with their finishing. Nunez scored a spectacular goal in the first half after Diogo Jota found him in space with a magnificent header.

Mac Allister added another in the second half with a delicate finish after Salah found him in the box. Salah, who was returning from injury, scored the third goal with his trademark left-footed finish.

Klopp also said after the game that he thinks the injuries to Curtis Jones and Jota do not look good at the moment. Liverpool fans will also hope that Nunez hasn’t picked up a serious injury either.
