Leeds United defender Joe Rodon shares message on Instagram

Leeds United maintained their winning run in the Championship in 2024 after beating Leicester City 3-1 on Friday night at Elland Road.

In a high-voltage thrilling clash between the two sides, the Whites came from behind to score three quick goals in the final 15 minutes to seal all three points.

Goals from Connor Roberts, Archie Gray via a deflection (own goal), and Patrick Bamford sealed the game for the Whites who have now remained 17 games unbeaten at Elland Road this season.

As a result of the win, Leeds have closed the gap with Leicester at the top of the table to six points and they can now believe in winning the Championship title, let alone securing promotion, although that should be the primary focus.

Joe Rodon took to Instagram after the game and shared a story with the caption: “Love this team.”

Leeds United fans will love it

The 26-year-old joined the Whites on loan from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer and has quickly become one of the key players under Farke.

He has been rock solid at the back for the Whites and has played a pivotal role in taking them to second spot in the league. First, he forged a strong partnership with Pascal Struijk at the back, and now he has developed a strong partnership with Ethan Ampadu after Struijk got injured.

Before the game, David Prutton suggested that Rodon would be key for Leeds against the Foxes, and the Welsh defender duly delivered. Rodon made two interceptions and four clearances during the game, as per whoscored.

Leeds boss admires him and the Whites are expected to try to sign him permanently in the summer transfer window. If the Whites return to the Premier League, they will have the funds to complete the move.

The fact that Rodon loves the team should excite the Leeds fan base. While he has remained tight-lipped about his future, it seems he loves enjoying playing for Leeds. He has been terrific for the club, and it remains to be seen if Leeds can convert his loan deal into a permanent one in the summer.
