Paul Merson predicts score of Crystal Palace clash v Tottenham

Crystal Palace will be looking to win back-to-back games under Oliver Glasner when they face Tottenham Hotspur away from home on Saturday (2 March).

The Eagles returned to winning ways after they defeated Burnley 3-0 in their previous game in Glasner’s first game in charge.

They now face London rivals Tottenham who are aiming to close the gap with Aston Villa as they look to secure the final Champions League spot.

Paul Merson says that Glasner is set to be without Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, and has predicted a 3-1 defeat against Spurs.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Eze is back in training and he is set to return to the matchday squad against Tottenham.

Merson thinks it will be a “comfortable” win for Spurs, but Palace could fancy their chance, especially with Eze now back in the side.

Merson’s prediction for Tottenham v Crystal Palace

“This is a nice game for Tottenham as Palace have a new manager in Oliver Glasner and are set to be without Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, without whom they’ve really struggled this season,” said Merson to Sportskeeda.

“Spurs play a certain game and this would have been a dangerous game if both Eze and Olise were fit, but without the pair, Palace don’t have enough firepower to secure a positive result.

“Ange Postecoglou’s side have to win this game as Aston Villa have ramped it up a little bit in recent weeks, so I think they’ll get a comfortable win in front of their home fans.”

Crystal Palace injury problems

The Eagles are missing a host of key players for this game. Cheick Doucoure is a long-term absentee but Palace are hopeful that he can return at some point.

Marc Guehi will be out six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on knee issues, and it’s a big blow for the club. Rob Holding is so currently out injured, while Michael Olise is also currently unavailable.

However, Will Hughes and Joachim Andersen could be available for this game.

Spurs got a lengthy break from their last game and Ange Postecoglou will get a fit and fresh squad for this game. They must have prepared really well for this game, and will be raring to go at home.

Richarlison has been in terrific goal-scoring form at the moment, and Palace will have to make special plans for him. Spurs cannot afford to drop points, especially after Villa won their previous game, but Palace will be keen to maintain the momentum as well.
