Photo: Said Benrahma spotted in France as West Ham exit nears

West Ham winger Said Benrahma has landed in France ahead of his loan move to Lyon.

The French club have agreed a straight loan deal for Benrahma for the rest of the season. Fulham made a late approach to sign the 28-year-old on the deadline day, but the Hammers rejected the move.

Benrahma has been spotted in France, posing with a Lyon fan, where he is seen already wearing a shirt with Lyon’s logo. It appears that the transfer is very near and the official announcement is expected later unless there is any problem with the medical.

Benrahma was heavily linked with a move away from the club this month. The Hammers previously rejected a move from Lyon, as David Moyes wanted to sell him permanently.

However, no club has come up with a permanent offer, and in the end the Hammers have offloaded him on loan.

Benrahma struggled with form this season having failed to score and registering one assist across 22 appearances.

His situation at the club became difficult after he was sent off against Bristol City in his last appearance under manager Moyes. Benrahma has shown flashes of brilliance at times but he never managed to gain the full trust of his manager.

In the end, it is the lack of consistency that became a major factor behind his departure to Lyon. It remains to be seen whether West Ham can sign a replacement in the coming hours on the deadline day.
