Arsenal returned to winning ways in some style after beating Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.
The Gunners lost 1-0 against Porto in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie in the Champions League in midweek and they needed a strong response. Mikel Arteta’s side were terrific against the Magpies who were “shambolic” at the back.
An own goal from Sven Botman gave Arsenal the early lead in the first half. Martin Odegaard, Jorginho and Declan Rice kept on pressing hard, and the next goal came as a result through Kai Havertz.
In the second half, Bukayo Saka was given the room to cut inside on his favorite left foot, and the England international made no mistake in putting the ball into the net. Jakub Kiwior added shortly afterward to wrap up a dominating performance.
Saka took to Instagram to share his reaction after the game. He wrote: “Six in a row! Big performances all around. Time to rest and recover so we can go again. We want more!.”
Piers Morgan, the celebrity Arsenal fan, responded to his post, saying: “Great stuff Bukayo.”
Bukayo Saka has been outstanding for Arsenal
There has been a lot of debate recently about whether Saka can be called a world-class player. Rio Ferdinand may not consider him in that category, but we do not doubt that Saka is a world-class player.
He has been performing at a phenomenal level for the past few years and has been terrific for the Gunners in 2023-24. He has already managed 16 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
Arsenal have now won six games in a row in the Premier League and they are one of the genuine contenders for the title alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.
It doesn’t come as a big surprise that Arsenal’s improvement in form has coincided with Saka’s goalscoring record. The 22-year-old has scored in five consecutive games in the Premier League and he continues to play a massive role for the club.
