Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack will miss SPFL clash v Aberdeen

Rangers will face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox on Tuesday (6 February).

The Bears are in tremendous form at the moment, having won five games in a row since the Old Firm derby defeat. They are up against the Dons who are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Celtic.

Ahead of the match, Philippe Clement has confirmed that midfielder Ryan Jack won’t be available for selection against Aberdeen.

The 31-year-old has just come out of injury and the Ibrox boss has opted against picking him for this massive clash.

Clement said that keeping in mind Jack’s “history” of injuries, he won’t risk him. Jack started in the 3-0 win against Livingston and played until the 61st minute. The club are working with the medical staff to make him more “robust”.

“What I can tell you guys already is Ryan Jack will not be in the selection tomorrow because he comes out of injury and he has a history of injuries,” said Clement, as quoted by Herald Scotland.

“And it is only a short recovery times between the two games so I will not take the risk with him.

“We will build him with our medical staff, our performance staff over the next weeks and months to make him more robust so that he can come out of this cycle of injuries that he had.”

Other absentees

Another player who won’t be playing in the midweek is defender Ben Davies. Like Kemar Roofe, he is also nearing a return to action, but the game has come too soon for both of them.

Leon Balogun is a long-term absentee. He has visited a specialist already over his injury concerns but the club is yet to decide whether he will require an operation.

This has been a great comeback from the Gers after a poor start to the season. They are only three points behind Celtic but have played a game less.

One could feel that the momentum has shifted towards the Bears but Celtic are still favourites to win the title.
