Everton are waiting for the Premier League decision to know the status of their appeal of the point deduction.
It has been going on for a long time and everyone is waiting to hear the outcome after the Toffees appealed against the decision of docking ten points. The initial reaction from all quarters was that it was harsh and such punishments were unprecedented.
Steve Rotheram, the Metro Mayor of Liverpool City, recently raised his voice over the delay from the Premier League, while Alan Myers suggested that it is affecting the club.
Sean Dyche has said in the press conference (via Ben Grounds) that while they are carrying on the daily job and it hasn’t affected them, it is probably playing on the back of the minds of players about when the decision will come out.
The guideline suggested that a decision is expected at the end of this month, and Dyche said that it is better for everyone if the decision is made soon.
“I don’t think it’s affecting our everyday business but I’m sure at the back of their minds they’re still wondering, ‘come on then, when are you going to tell us where we’re at?” said Dyche, as shared by Sky Sports journalist Ben Grounds.
Everton must focus ahead
The Toffees are without a win since the start of the year. They have not picked up a win in their last eight Premier League and this is a worrying sign.
With three draws and two defeats in their last five Premier League games, Everton are now badly struggling. They are close to the relegation zone at the moment, and the only way to get over the situation is by winning games regularly.
The Toffees will travel to Amex Stadium to face Brighton next this weekend. They are heading into this game on the back of a drab 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, and Dyche should demand more intensity from his side.
The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin is badly underperforming at the moment, and it’s high time he gets some goals to boost his confidence.
