Liverpool maintained their position at the top of the Premier League after they defeated Brentford 4-1 on Saturday.
It was a big win for the Reds who never won previously at the Gtech Stadium.
Goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo sealed all three points for Liverpool. Ivan Toney pulled one back for the home side.
Jurgen Klopp will be elated by the retun of Salah who missed the previous few games through injury. The Egyptian made an instant impact as he not only found the net but also provided the assist for the second goal.
Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, Shay Given, the former Newcastle goalkeeper, was full of praise for Salah. He says that the Egyptian maestro is “dynamic” and direct.
“Mo Salah. What a player he is! Even Jurgen Klopp said he could have got a hat-trick. He’s so dynamic and direct,” said Given.
Liverpool need Salah on top form
At the start of the season, very few had expected that Liverpool would mount a serious challenge for the title especially after what happened last season.
Klopp took no time to rebuild the squad but doubts were raised whether they have enough depth in the side. Liverpool have missed several key players through injuries this season, but they are still going strong.
On Saturday, the Reds suffered a massive blow with both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota suffering injuries. Darwin Nunez was also taken off for precautionary measures.
Jota has been in sensational form since the turn of the year, and it will be a massive blow for the club if they lose him for a long period. Fortunately, Salah is back now, and Liverpool need him to be at his best.
The 31-year-old is enjoying a terrific campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists already in the Premier League. Salah maintains an enviable consistency in his game, and goals are bound to come from him if he stays fit.
