Tottenham could move for Conor Gallagher

Tottenham could move Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer window provided he doesn’t sign a new deal at the club.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old during the January transfer window, but the move didn’t materialize.

According to The Telegraph, his salary profile is increasing, and Chelsea may have to pay £150k-pee-week if he puts pen to paper on a new deal.

He will soon reach the final 12 months of his contract at the club, and his transfer value is diminishing. He could be available for around £30-35m, and his situation is a “nightmare” dilemma for the Blues.

Gallagher has been one of Chelsea’s best players under Mauricio Pochettino, but there remains no significant progress in contract talks. Ange Postecoglou is a huge fan of the midfielder and feels his playing style is perfectly suited to his energetic system.

Deal could happen

Chelsea demanded a fee in the region of £50m for the midfielder and a late move in January was impossible. Gallagher was also linked with a move in previous transfer windows but he didn’t want to leave the London club.

He joined the Blues as an eight-year-old and has made a huge impact season for his boyhood club.

The Telegraph claims that Spurs are ready to make a firm move for Gallagher at the end of the season, and they should focus on getting the deal done.

It is hard to find cogent logic in Chelsea’s transfer methods these days, and in this case, it seems like they will have little choice than to consider selling him to a rival in the summer if he fails to sign a new contract.

His transfer will drop and Spurs probably won’t mind paying £30m-odd for the talented midfielder, although negotiating salary with him could be a big issue.
