Tottenham Hotspur could be looking to sign a new striker in the next summer transfer window.
Ange Postecoglou was happy with the squad he possessed and didn’t delve into the market to sign a replacement for Harry Kane who joined Bayern Munich.
However, at some point, he will need a new striker, and the north London club has been keeping tabs on a host of players. Lille striker Jonathan David is one of them who is being considered, but there are other options.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is another name to keep an eye on. The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs have all scouted him, and they have been watching him closely.
Calciomercato claimed earlier this week that Man Utd have already asked for information about the 22-year-old striker who is valued at £42m.
Good signing?
The Dutch striker has been in fantastic form this season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists from 24 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A club.
A host of Italian clubs like AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus are vying for his signature, but eventually, it could come down to who pays more. Spurs could be an attractive destination for Zirkzee if they secure Champions League football next season.
While the player has a contract at the Italian club until 2026, he is ready for a new adventure in this summer. It’s too early to say whether Spurs will definitely move for him, but they should be encouraged by his form.
The north London club signed Timo Werner in the January transfer window on loan from RB Leipzig, and they could make the move permanent at the end of the season. However, Werner is hardly an out-an-out striker.
Ange Postecoglou will be impressed by the recent form of Richarlison, but there’s no harm in adding a top-quality striker in the summer. Zirkzee fits all the bill.
