Alexis Mac Allister raves about Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has become a key player under Jurgen Klopp this season, and he has hardly taken time to settle in at his new club.

Ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash against Sparta Prague, Mac Allister has showered praise on his teammate Darwin Nunez with whom he has forged a strong partnership.

In the previous game against Nottingham Forest, Nunez scored the winner in the 99th minute from a lovely cross from Mac Allister.

Mac Allister says that the 24-year-old striker is an “amazing” player who works incredibly hard in training. The Argentine midfielder adds that sometimes people say that he helps Nunez a lot, but that’s not true.

Nunez struggled in the first season under Klopp but he is playing a huge role this season. He has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions this season.

What Mac Allister has said about Nunez

“When I play as an eight that connection has to be important, and he [Darwin Nunez] is an amazing guy,” said Mac Allister, as quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“He is doing very well and works very hard and that’s why I’m very happy for him. Sometimes I hear people saying that I help him a lot but that’s not true. His level is because he trains very well, he works very hard and that’s why he is scoring goals and that’s why he is important for this team.”

Big selection decision for Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool will face Sparta Prague in the Europa League away from home on Thursday night. Jurgen Klopp will be looking to win this competition and add another trophy to his name.

Sparta are in good form and the Reds cannot them lightly. At the same time, Liverpool will face Manchester City in their next Premier League game this weekend, and Klopp needs his key players fit and fresh for that game as well.

The likes of Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are fit again but Klopp probably will give them around 25-30 minutes to get some match fitness ahead of the big game. Nunez is another player who could be introduced from the bench as well.

Several young players have impressed heavily under Klopp in recent games, and there could be a temptation to throw most of them into this game. But it could prove to be hugely risky, so expect either Nunez or Cody Gakpo to make the starting line-up.
