Anthony Gordon gushes about Newcastle United teammate Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon could make his debut for his country when England face Brazil at Wembley on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has been in brilliant form this season for the Magpies and Gareth Southgate has picked him for the upcoming international matches.

Gordon has managed nine goals and five assists in 26 starts in the Premier League, and he is looking to impress the England boss.

He will be up against Newcastle teammate Bruno Guimaraes, and the attacking midfielder revealed that he has had a chat with the Brazilian midfielder ahead of the game.

The Newcastle forward has hailed Guimaraes as a “top, top player”, and he expects a brilliant game at Wembley.

Gordon said: “Yeah, I spoke to Bruno about the game. Like I said before Brazil is such a good team. He is a top, top player, and it would just be really exciting to play against them.”

Newcastle United could offload Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle confirmed Sven Botman’s ACL injury on Wednesday afternoon. He will be out for at least nine months which means a move away from the club in the summer can be ruled out.

The Magpies may need to offload some of their top players to comply with the Premier League profitability & sustainability rules (PSR).

According to Football London, Guimaraes, who has a release clause of £98million which is payable in three instalments, could be sold in the summer and he won’t have any shortage of suitors.

Premier League clubs are expected to conduct their business smartly after seeing what has happened with Everton and Nottingham Forest, and the Magpies will have to be smart in how they approach the summer transfer window.

Losing Guimaraes would be a big blow to the club if he leaves, but they could be forced to do so to avoid any big punishment.

In other Newcastle news, the Magpies are in the race to sign 21-year-old attacking midfielder.
