Chelsea to face Celtic at Notre Dame Stadium in US pre-season tour

Chelsea have added a third fixture to their 2024 pre-season tour of the United States after releasing a club statement confirming they will face Celtic at the historic Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana on Saturday, July 27.

This fixture adds to the previously confirmed matches against promotion-chasing League Two side Wrexham and Mexican outfit Club America, with tickets and hospitality packages already on sale for all three games.

The clash against Celtic offers a unique opportunity for American fans to witness a classic European rivalry unfold on their home turf, with both clubs boasting rich histories and passionate fanbases, guaranteeing an electric atmosphere.

This won’t be the first time these two titans have met on US soil, with Chelsea coming out on top in a memorable 4-2 encounter held in Seattle back in 2004/05.

Chelsea toured the US last summer, winning the pre-season Premier League summer series contested by six English clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Newcastle United.

The west London giants are poised to return to the US this summer, which coincides with plans for another major squad overhaul at the end of the season.

The upcoming Club World Cup and the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico also presents a golden opportunity for Chelsea to solidify their brand presence across the Atlantic.

Establishing a deeper connection with American fans is firmly on the club’s agenda as they seek to leverage the rapidly growing interest and build a loyal following.

For now, they will focus on ending a turbulent season on a high, potentially sealing a place in one of Europe’s secondary tournaments with the Champions League firmly out of their reach.

Mauricio Pochettino’s troops will also have one eye on FA Cup success after swatting aside Leicester City to set up a mouth-watering semi-final date with title holders Manchester City.
