David Prutton predicts score of Watford v Leeds United

Leeds United are back in action on Friday night after the international break as they face Watford in the Championship at Vicarage Road.

The Whites have reached new heights since the turn of the year, and they have maintained an enviable consistency, winning 12 of their last 13 games, and drawing the other one.

The upsurge in form has seen them close the gap with Leicester City at the top, although the Foxes have played a game less. With Ipswich Town also breathing down their neck, it’s going to be a thrilling race for automatic promotion.

It is not always easy to get back to full rhythm after the international break and Leeds must ensure they don’t lose their focus. Some of their players have suffered disappointment while playing for their countries, and it is up to Daniel Farke to motivate them for the challenges ahead.

Watford are 13th in the table and they have badly struggled this season. However, there is no easy game in the Championship, but David Prutton thinks Leeds, who have been “utterly relentless” should have enough quality to pick up another crucial win.

David Prutton shares prediction for Watford v Leeds United

Prutton said to Sky Sports: “Tom Cleverley enjoyed a decent start in charge of Watford, winning his first game as interim boss. But Leeds are a very different proposition to Birmingham City.

“Daniel Farke’s side went top of the Championship before the international break, a feat that seemed unthinkable not too long ago, but they have been utterly relentless. They’ll have to sit and watch the rest of the action unfold on Good Friday before heading out at Vicarage Road, but they are too good right now not to get the job done. Watford 1-2 Leeds.”

The Whites boss could be without several key players for this game. Dutch defender Pascal Struijk has undergone surgery and is out for the rest of the season.

Goerginio Rutter, who has been in sensational form this season, has also undergone a minor surgery during the international break. However, he has returned to partial training, and Farke is optimistic that he should be able to play some part against Watford.

However, the likes of Connor Roberts, Ilia Gruev and Willy Gnonto are carrying knocks and the trio are doubtful for this game.
