Leeds United stay unbeaten in the Championship in 2024 after they picked up a 2-0 win against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night (8 March) at Hillsborough.
The Whites have jumped to second in the league table, and find themselves only two points behind Leicester City who have a game in hand.
Leeds have now picked up 11 wins and a draw from their last 12 games in the Championship, and Daniel Farke deserves huge praise for the work he has done so far.
What has been really pleasing is the number of clean sheets they have kept in recent weeks. Joe Rodon, who joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, has been amazing at the back for the Whites this season. He has played a massive role in taking the club to this position.
The 26-year-old defender forged a strong partnership with Pascal Struijk at the back at the start of the season. After Struijk got injured, he formed a great partnership with Ethan Ampadu, who was adjudged the man of the match last night for his outstanding performance.
Ampadu took to the Instagram story and described his defensive partner, Rodon, as a “warrior”.
Outstanding partnership
The partnership of Ampadu and Rodon has taken Leeds to a different level, and it is not a coincidence that the Whites have performed admirably well in 2024, ever since Struijk got injured, which can be seen as a blessing in disguise.
Farke confirmed recently that Struijk will be ready for action for the international break but the Dutch defender will have to wait for his chances to get into the starting line-up. Farke will not be keen to break the blossoming partnership.
Leeds will be keen to sign Rodon on a permanent deal at the end of the season. The Wales defender has stated time and again that he is enjoying his time at Elland Road.
Tottenham will demand a hefty transfer fee for him, but Leeds probably would be able to meet the asking price if they secure promotion to the Premier League next season.
