Joshua Zirkzee told Liverpool move would suit him

Liverpool will move in a new direction in the summer with the club preparing for life without their inspirational German boss, Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are in the process of setting up structures, having already appointed Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes in crucial roles. The next step for the Reds is to appoint the right candidate and Xabi Alonso has emerged as one of their top targets.

Without a new manager at the helm, it is not possible to chalk out plans for the future. A lot can happen in the summer transfer window. If Mohamed Salah leaves the club to move to Saudi Arabia, Liverpool can use the money to buy more than one player in their forward department to fill his void.

Signing a striker could be a priority for Liverpool next season. Darwin Nunez has impressed but Cody Gakpo hasn’t performed to the level many had expected. Joshua Zirkzee is one of the most in-demand players in Europe, and his former coach has tipped him to join Liverpool.

Tottenham target Joshua Zirkzee told Liverpool move would suit him

Zirkzee’s former coach Ferry Verbeek, has suggested that the 22-year-old striker would benefit if he joins a club like Liverpool.

“I think he would definitely have a bright future at AC Milan. At Liverpool or Barcelona, however, he would be better in his element, with a lot of forward pressure and a lot of ball possession,” said Verbeek to SportItalia.

Zirkzee has been linked with a move to a host of Premier League clubs including Tottenham.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs reported back in February that the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs have all scouted Zirkzee, and they have been watching him closely.

The attacker has a hand in 17 goals this season for Bologna and is valued at £42m. A host of Italian clubs like AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus are vying for his signature, but in the end, it could come down to who is willing to pay him more.

At the moment it’s too early to predict about Liverpool’s transfer plans. The Reds are in the mix to win three trophies this season after losing the FA Cup tie against Manchester United. Winning the Premier League and the Europa League is a prime target for Klopp, and Liverpool can only plan for the future after he leaves.

Zirkzee won’t be a bad option for Liverpool but it doesn’t look like they are checking on him at the moment.
