Leon Osman blown away by Liverpool winger Luis Diaz in win v Brighton

Liverpool once again came from behind to secure a crucial Premier League win on Sunday at Anfield.

In a thrilling contest at Anfield, the Reds narrowly edged out Brighton 2-1, with Mohamed Salah scoring the winning goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The game was hardly underway when Brighton stunned Liverpool with an early goal through Danny Welbeck. Liverpool didn’t panic and as it happened many times with them, they came back sharply and kept on creating chances.

Luis Diaz got the equalising goal in the first half, taking advantage of a clumsy defending from the visitors. In the second half, the Reds produced one moment of magic through Alexis Mac Allister who found Salah in the box with a deft pass leading to the goal.

With this victory, Liverpool have moved to the top of the Premier League, but Arsenal can regain that spot again if they beat Manchester City at the Etihad later today.

Leon Osman was impressed with the performance of Diaz and noted that the 27-year-old was “lively”.

“Luis Diaz has been lively since scoring his goal in the first half. He’s really enjoyed being out there and has had a really good game,” said Osman.

Liverpool showed their character yet again

Roy Keane has rightly said on Sky Sports that what has been impressive today was Liverpool didn’t panic against a strong side. They kept on piling pressure and eventually broke their resilience.

It was probably one of Salah’s worst performances this season, but the Egyptian still managed 11 shots. Diaz was fantastic as well, and Jurgen Klopp should be very pleased with the effort.

Diaz nearly added another but it was ruled offside. The Colombian also played out a superb pass to Salah leaving him in one-on-one with the goalie, but the Egyptian couldn’t find the net.

Mac Allister was simply outstanding today for the Reds and he was miles ahead of other players in terms of sharpness, precision and decision making.
