Liverpool in four-way Premier League race for German talent Maximilian Beier

Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Bundesliga sensation Maximilian Beier. But they will have to fend off interest from three Premier League rivals in the race to secure his signature.

According to German newspaper Bild, the Reds will face competition from Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Nottingham Forest for the young striker who is tearing up the Bundesliga.

Beier has been one of the most prolific forwards in the German top flight this season, notching 12 goals and five assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances for TSG Hoffenheim.

His tally should be significantly higher, considering he has missed nine big chances, but there is plenty of room to improve and develop his skill set at just 21.

Beier is already attracting plenty of interest from clubs in the Premier League, and Hoffenheim are braced for summer bids for their academy graduate.

The youngster has a contract with the Bundesliga outfit that runs until the summer of 2027. But there’s a release clause that opens the door for potential suitors to snap him up for €32.5 million.

Bild reports that the exit clause will drop by €2.5m every year from 2025, but clubs are unlikely to wait that long before making a move for the highly sought-after talent.

Liverpool are in pole position to snap up Beier this summer amid reports suggesting the German is highly admired by Reds managerial target Xabi Alonso.

Liverpool are widely expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window as they look to prepare for life without Jurgen Klopp in the dugout next season.

After securing the services of ex-director Michael Edwards in a more senior role, landing a sporting director, along with a managerial appointment, is firmly at the top of their to-do list.

The Reds are also thought to be keen on signing another striker, and Beier is among potential targets under consideration at Anfield.

Despite competition from Premier League rivals, Liverpool are best placed to snap up Beier, but his chances of ending up in Merseyside will greatly improve if Alonso replaces Klopp in the dugout.
