Arsenal stretched their winning run to eight games in the Premier League as they won 2-1 against Brentford on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
Declan Rice and Kai Havertz scored goals in both halves for the Gunners as they moved to the top of the table, although Liverpool or Manchester City could leapfrog them if either of them win on Sunday.
Piers Morgan was heavily impressed by Rice and described him as “brilliant” after the game. Rice took to Instagram and wrote – “Another one”.
It wasn’t an easy game for the Gunners and Brentford made it tough for them as they scored just before the break to make it 1-1. Arsenal applied tremendous pressure after the break and eventually got the goal through Havertz who scored with a header from a “magnificent” delivery from Ben White.
Declan Rice has been terrific for Arsenal
The Gunners broke their transfer record to sign Rice during the summer window from West Ham. The 25-year-old was a hero at West Ham, and he took no time in settling at his new club.
Arsenal needed a leader in the middle of the pitch, and Rice has been perfect for them. He is not someone who is worth £100m, but the Gunners paid the money because Arteta felt he was integral to his long-term vision at the club.
Rice has made 28 starts in the Premier League this season, and he has managed six goals and five assists from midfield this season. His energy from the middle of the park has kept Arsenal in the title race, and he has been absolutely brilliant for the club since day one.
The England midfielder has made two tackles per game and 1.3 interceptions which shows his all-round contribution. He manages around 91% passing accuracy on average, and there is no doubt that he is worth every penny.
