Irrespective of where Leeds United play next season, Daniel Farke must now have a clear vision of who remains in his long-term plans.
The Whites boss must have kept a close check on performances of players who are currently on loan away from Elland Road.
Last summer, Leeds offloaded around 13 players on loan, and chances are high that most of them won’t feature in Farke’s plans for next season when they return. And one of them could be Rasmus Kristensen.
The Denmark international joined Leeds in the summer of 2022 and made 30 appearances in his first season at the club. Farke wasted no time last summer to send him away on loan to AS Roma.
Kristensen has made 16 starts in the Serie A this season and a further nine appearances have come from the bench, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have made the decision that they won’t be signing him permanently, which means the right-back will return to Elland Road in the summer.
His overall performances have been far from convincing, and the Giallorossi have decided not to extend the deal.
No place for Rasmus Kristensen in Leeds squad
If Leeds return to the Premier League, which is a possibility, they are expected to bolster the squad with smart signings. Farke could use this opportunity to sell unwanted players to fund moves for new arrivals.
While Roma are interested in signing Diego Llorente, who is also on loan from Leeds permanently, they are not willing to negotiate a deal to keep the Denmark defender at Stadio Olimpico. He was omitted from Roma’s Europa League squad due to FFP reasons.
It has been suggested that the Whites will be more than happy to offload him in the summer. Leeds signed Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley in the January window and the defender has done reasonably well in such a short time. There is a possibility that the Whites might sign him permanently if they secure promotion to the Premier League.
Kristensen has a contract at Elland Road until 2027, but he doesn’t appear in Farke’s plans. The defender hasn’t done enough to convince him that he could be a big part of his plans next season.
