Tottenham should be looking to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window irrespective of where they finish at the end of the season.
Ange Postecoglou made a bold call last summer by not signing a striker despite the departure of Harry Kane. While goals have come in plenty this season, the north London club have often felt the need for a top-quality number nine.
Richarlison was enjoying a rich vein of form before he picked up an injury. Postecoglou has stressed the need to add quality players to the side and they will be boosted financially if they secure Champions League football next season.
A host of strikers have been linked with a club in recent months including Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez and now Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz has come up as a potential target for the north London club.
The 22-year-old striker scored twice against Spurs on Saturday as Fulham earned a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage. According to Football London, Spurs might look at Muniz who has become somewhat of a sensation after a disappointing loan at Middlesbrough last season.
Rodrigo Muniz – one of the many targets for Tottenham
The Brazilian striker has been in great form since the turn of the year, having scored seven goals in his last seven Premier League appearances.
Against Spurs, he managed only 18 touches but showed his quality by netting a brace. Muniz is represented by CAA Base who has a strong connection with Spurs so they might have an advantage if they make a serious attempt in the summer.
Spurs should take their time to sign the right player for the club. Muniz can come into consideration if he continues his impressive form until the end of the campaign. Even in that situation, his signing could be a big gamble.
At the moment, the top priority for Spurs will be to get into the top four, although the fifth team from the Premier League might be involved in the Champions League next season.
